Average Rating for Gaming Monitors

With GSync, 144Hz refresh, lots of ergo adjustments available, and presets that actually look good, this one runs circles around any other ultrawide I’ve looked at. If I have to have a complaint, it’s that I wish they didn’t use the red trim, but since it’s all in the back it won’t be noticed. Probably the best compliment I can offer is that I already have a number of gaming friends that now want this one, as well.

    Best Monitor I have owned
First off I want to cover the issue people talk about with the response time of a 5ms GTG, for me even playing FPS I have zero problems getting the most enjoyment out of my games. With everything rocking ultra setting and 21:9 resolution the monitor just crushes it. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great gaming experience

    Fantastic Ultra-wide for PC Gaming
I’m a proud PC gamer and I purchased the 34” LG 34UC89G-B for its gaming prowess, IPS panel, Gsync support and 2560x1080 resolution which I prefer for games. I’m very happy with it and was pleasantly surprised at the quality for a very reasonable price. I’ve been using the monitor about a month now. I have it paired with an Nvidia GTX 1080 TI using Gsync in all my games. The IPS panel on this monitor is beautiful, giving me great colors with no noticeable light bleed or dead pixels. As far as ... read more light-bleed goes, LG seems to have nailed it with this IPS panel. Of course, if I set completely black screen I can see a tiny bit of light at the edges but all LCD monitors have this to some extent and many are much worse. In gaming, working, web surfing I never notice any light bleed or discoloration. I have set the monitor refresh rate to 144hz but I use Gsync in games so refresh rate varies depending on framerate which works great and is really smooth down to the high 30’s fps where the Gysnc module stops varying refresh by design. Also, there is no noticeable motion blur when playing games even with Gsync on or at any framerate. I know the monitor may overclock to 160hz but I see no reason to do this so I haven’t tried it. The monitor has a little white joystick on the bottom of the panel for accessing the settings menu and it’s the best joystick/settings combo I’ve used in a monitor. I set the colors to the high 60’s, the brightness/contrast to the mid 50’s and then used Calibrize free utility to help me with a color calibration profile. There are many options in the settings and also gaming oriented settings; however, I just keep the gaming settings such as overdrive, gamma, etc at default as I think the monitor works great as it is but will have to play with them in the future. I really like the 2560x1080 21:9 ultra-wide resolution this monitor offers because it gives me higher frame rates with ultra-quality settings in games as opposed to lower FPS using higher ultra-wide resolutions (which can double the pixel count at the least) and I hope LG continues to support 2560x1080 in gaming monitors. It’s much easier for me to keep FPS in the high 80’s – 130’s in my games which I really like. The 1080p also means I am not as stressed to replace my GPU as often to keep games at High/Ultra details. Also, Dynamic Super resolution; which GeForce experience can set for you, is much easier on the GPU when calculated from this resolution as opposed to a higher native resolution. The ultra-wide gaming experience is awesome and most new titles support the resolution natively with correct aspect FOV; however, older titles may need mods or tweaks to get resolution support and/or correct aspect FOV, google searches will usually find them. However, if an older title is stubborn with ultra-wide support, you can still turn scaling off in Nvidia drivers and play the game in 16:9 with black bars on the side. The curve on this monitor is very comfortable and doesn’t seem exaggerated at all. The response time is very quick and I don’t notice any lag even in high FPS games like Call of Duty or Battlefield. The monitor was easy to assemble (attach the stand & cable guide) and is fairly light-weight for its size and doesn’t generate lots of heat. The bezels on the side are very thin which is a nice touch. The monitor can adjust vertical, swivel, angle and tilt very easily. I did have to provide a longer Display Port cable as the one provided would not reach my PC which is down on the floor to the side of my desk. The monitor is also a great experience for work and web surfing. The higher pixel pitch makes fonts easy to see and colors look great. As a software developer, I like being able to have my Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio in ultra-wide so I can see my code easily and also have other tabs open on the sides. I love this monitor as it is great for gaming, is a curved ultra-wide, supports Gsync, has a high-quality IPS panel and the 2560x1080 resolution is also less stressful on my GPU.

    Excellent monitor
This is one of the best monitors I've been in use so far. The view space is so much better than dual-FHD setup, and the text looks super crisp and clear at 125% on Windows.

    Perfect home office monitor!
I've been running with this monitor as a secondary off of my Mac and it compliments it perfectly, no jitters, very bright and is super easy to connect/disconnect.

The picture on this monitor is awesome.
Costco had this on sale and the resolution was higher than my other monitor. Thought I'd give it a try. I'm glad I did.

    Awesome monitor
I was looking for a monitor that would be a good all-around piece, but I didnt want to spend a ton of money. I do a lot of gaming, work on the computer, and watching movies, and this monitor is great for allnof the above. I love that it pivots, and it's really easy to manipulate and raise and tilt but still feels sturdy. And it raises high enough I can use my desk as a stabding desk! Arrived quickly and I had no issues, worked right out of the box. Great monitor and cant beat the price.

    Great monitor!
I purchased this monitor 3 months ago and it was a perfect fit for my gaming set up. Wonderfull size and combo(1440p/144hz). Love the simple design with a small amount of gamer accent. Only thing that could even remotely be considered as a con is that the corners of the screen get a little faded if you go closer than 1 1/2 feet to the screen. Other than that its a wonderful product.

    A No Compromise Budget Monitor
Bought this to replace a Acer XB280Hk 4K monitor. That monitor in it's day was first rate but I wanted a higher refresh rate and better colors. I was never happy with the old TN panel but nervous to try and replace it with a 300 dollar monitor. But I am glad I made this purchase. The 144hz refresh and VA panel really make a huge difference even as I as technically downgrading to 1440p. Pkus the 32 inches take up the same space as my old 27 inch monitor. So I really lost nothing and gained a new ... read more respect for LG as a industry leader in gaming products.

    great monitor
Beautiful picture, great color, deep rich blacks. I've been playing the old Bioshock Remastered and the 3000:1 contrast ratio is fabulous on dark games like this. Controls are simple and intuitive. Bias lighting turns out to be really nice, i didn't think I'd use it but i actually use it every night. G-sync works as intended. 32" is perfect size if you like to watch movies from the couch.

    Glad I did my research
This monitor boasts features found only in those in the >$1500 range. The three brands starting with 'A' had most of the features offered in the 32GK850G-B, but were either too small (27") or curved 34" displays costing upwards of $1700. While value is important in a monitor, image quality is paramount. The VA display here has impressive mega contrast and color gamut. Blacks are solid and dense, allowing whites to really pop. This is my first G-Sync display and no, I didn't really know what I ... read more was missing. This screen is so smooth, you get the feeling of being in a movie rather than playing a video game. 32 inches of real estate seems to swallow you up and completely immerse you in the game world. This is due to the amazing 165 Hz refresh rate and 5 ms response time. To say that you'll see your games in a whole new light really is an understatement. If I need to play a game using HDR or 4K I'll use my 55" LG OLED display for that. You can certainly pay more for a display, but this monitor brings an impressive array of features and specifications not found in more expensive, but less impressive monitors. If you want HDR and 4K you'll definitely need to pay a lot more. LG's OLED televisions can do 4K gaming at 60 Hz over HDMI, so if I need HDR gaming I have it. I'll eventually move to an even larger, HDR monitor, but this one had so much going for it that no HDR was not a deal-breaker in any way. This display will keep me immersed for years to come. Another LG triumph.

    Great gaming monitor
I've purchased many monitors in the past, mostly higher resolution (4k & UW), or FreeSync monitors over high-refresh rates, but I now know what I've been missing when it comes to a "Gaming Monitor". At 144 hz the screen is responsive to every movement of my mouse. This is the best of everything for gaming: Higher resolution than 1080p, higher refresh rates at 144 hz +, and almost 32" of real estate. I can never go back to 24", standard desktop monitors. While tearing wasn't often noticeable ... read more on my past monitors, between using this at 144hz and/or the use of G-Sync with my 1080Ti video card, my experience is clear and refreshing. The menu system is very straight-forward when compared to other brands I've used. The only complaint is that if you sit closer than "arms length" away from the monitor, the edges noticeably dim. You need to sit directly in front/middle of the monitor, at least 30" away to enjoy it completely. Perhaps a slightly curved panel for those who would sit closer is recommended

    Great Upgrade
I had a 32" 1440p 144 monitor and I wanted a better viewing so I was looking for a 49". I ordered a 49" and found it to be to wide. So I started to go to reviews and found this monitor. I was happy that the other monitor failed. This monitor is great gives me everything I need.

    Overall fantastic performance and features
I bought a new gaming PC that is running a very fast processor and video card. Overall the monitor is a great match with G-Sync and the 144Hz performance. I did think this unit had RGB lighting on the back but it did not - that was a little disappointing.

    absolutly amazing
I am normally a man of few words, and this time will be no different. this monitor is a complete game changer for me, before seeing this on my desk I had only done 60Hz monitors over the last 30 years, some of them have been rather high end, but 60Hz none the less. I have never had some a feature rich monitor of my own but I can never do without ever again. since Ive got back into gaming a good bit I found the need to give these new panels a try and all I can say about them is WOW.

    Super good for gaming.
Here are my specs, GTX 970, fourth gen i7, 500gb ssd, 8gb ram. Despite the decent color reproduction considering the panel I would not recommend this for any type of graphic production. So lets talk games. The refresh rate, which is the key feature of this monitor is outstanding. So far the only game I've played competitively is Fortnite. You can call this placebo, but I genuinely played better. My building was faster and more consistent, my shots were hitting better and my windows of ... read more opportunity are basically four times longer than what I would've had with my 60 hertz monitor. For those of you who are wondering if I was pushing 240 frames, I was hovering around 180 to 260 frames.

    Loving it so far.
Admittedly I have no experience with gaming monitors. However I can tell you that this monitor is the best I've ever had. I didn't know how much the high refresh rate made a difference and it definitely does. Having USB connections and the audio output and volume control built into the monitor is awesome as well. Wasn't the monitor I had planned on when I walked into the store but I'm really happy I got it.

    Fantastic Monitor!
This is a fantastic monitor. The stand is well built and solid, but not too big. The thunderbolt port is an awesome feature, and the picture quality is absolutely fantastic. I've had it a month and have had no problems with it so far and no dead pixels. I highly recommend this monitor if you are looking for a top of the line 32" 4k monitor.
