Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great picture I bought this monitor to go with a new Apple Mac Mini as I had owned my old monitor for several years. I was literally shocked at how clear the picture is. I can read text on this monitor so much easier, than the old monitor. One of the best features is the fact that you just plug it into your Mac and enjoy. There is no buttons for adjustments, not even an on-off button. You simply start your computer and the picture is in perfect settings.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great, but won't wake up after sleep I got these via Woot, and I've attempted to swap to a thunderbolt cable instead of the supplied USB-C hoping it would solve the issue. Result is I constantly have to pull cables out of the MacBook and plug them back in. This resets brightness and in general is pretty annoying. I see people online state cables, or firmware updates, but after almost 8 months now I've had no luck. I have no idea if its Mojave power issues or the monitors. Either way its 2 step backwards and one step forward.

Can this monitor be used in Europe without a power converter? I'm assuming this is the case because the specs say 100-240V, but I'd like to know for sure before I move.

Asked by: Lizzzzz
HI Lizzzzz. The LG 22" Class UltraFine™ 4K IPS LED Monitor (21.5" Diagonal), Model # 22MKD4KA has a power rating of 100 - 240 V~ 50/60 Hz 1.4 A, so you will not need a step-down converter to use it abroad. Depending on where in Europe you move to, you will need an adapter for the plug on the monitor's power cord to fit into the electrical sockets they use since they use different types of sockets from those used in the U.S...^IFV

I installed the LG Screen Manager today from the App store, and updated the firmware of the display. However I don't have the "screen split" tab/functionality in the LG Screen Manager. Is this expected? Is there a missing step to set this up?

Asked by: emirpprime
The LG Screen Manager has been optimized for MacOS to provide a variety of multi-screen options and should enable you to automatically divide the screen on the LG 22" Class UltraFine™ 4K IPS LED Monitor (21.5" Diagonal), Model # 22MD4KA-B into two or four frames according to your specific needs. Regrettably, we are not familiar with which app store you downloaded the software from. There should be a download link on the monitor's support page on our site. You may want to download the software from there. The U.K. site may be different from that in the U.S. and if you need assistance, please contact the Support Center in the U.K., http://www.newsusjournal.com/uk for assistance...^IFV

Does the ambient light sensor work at all? I have been unable to find any report of its usage and it does not work for me in Sierra. Can you specify a combination of Mac and MacOS where it can actually be used to automatically adjust the brightness?

Asked by: Lee3
The Ambient Light Sensor (ALS) should work fine. To find how it works, open System Preferences and select Displays. Enable "Automatically adjust brightness" and the computer will use the ambient light sensor to automatically adjust the brightness. You can also check if Mac OS is updated. The ALS operates in accordance with Mac OS and some Mac OS doesn’t support the display ALS. If all mentioned above don't work, try to place your hand on the ambient light sensor and check if your screen will turn black. If not, then the ambient light sensor might not be working. ^AC
