What people are saying

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great picture, terrible interface The picture quality is excellent, although, on some movies with night scenes or very dark backgrounds it loses a lot of detail. Overall, great picture quality, I would imagine this is on par with similar TV's at this pricepoint. The interface however leaves a lot to be desired. The magic mike is interesting and occassionally compelling, however, at times it competes with itself. The physical design is hideous and busy looking. The cursor disappears quickly or I get confused between using the trackpad and the cursor on screen. Overall, there is a tremendous amount this TV can do, its so packed with features, but I think it over burdens it. It can do so much but it makes the interface confusing and layered and I don't really use most of the features any way. There are so many different portals and ways to access different things that it gets overwhelming and clunky. The voice activated stuff is mostly useless, I hold don't the microphone button and speak and typically get some sort of "can't connect..." error. It typically takes 2 tries. Long story short, I have a Roku which is incredibly simple, intuitive, and I just interface everything from that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I have had LG TVs for 8 yrs All the features are great except for the stand. My last lg had a stand that would swivel. This new one does not, you have to move the entire base with the tv

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly good I looked at reviews and shopped for a couple of months before buying this. I've had it about 2 1/2 weeks and am still learning about it's capabilities. I'm extremely happy with the picture quality in all lighting situations. The 'smart' functions work well with little lag. That has been the biggest complaint that I've heard from other people that bought smart TV's. The built-in sound system boasts a 40W downward directed output. While it's minimally acceptable, I highly recommend adding a sound system of your choice to experience the great potential of this TV. So far, this has been a great buy. Only an OLED can compare to the picture quality.

I just bought the new tv and found the round spot in the middle of the back panel. I'm not even pluged it on just unwrappe. Spot size around 2-3 in. Looks like something burned inside out. I tried to clean it but doesn't help. Is it normal?

I have several questions regarding the LG 55SM9000PUA television. 1. it is Ultra HD Premium Certified 2. Does it have a ASTC 3.0 tuner 3. Are the HDMI ports HDMI 2.0 or 2.2

Asked by: Budlight3
The LG Nano 9 Series 4K 55 inch Class Smart UHD NanoCell TV w/ AI ThinQ® (54.6'' Diag), Model # 55SM9000PUA is not Ultra HD Premium Certified. ATSC 3.0 is incompatible with current broadcast systems, and it must provide improvements in performance, functionality, and efficiency significant enough to warrant implementation of a non-backward-compatible system. It has not been rolled out yet in the U.S. and work on ATSC 3.0 has been underway for more than two years but much work remains, and many decisions are yet to be made. The 55SM9000PUA has a built-in ATSC 1.0 tuner and there currently aren't any TVs that feature an ATSC 3.0 tuner. All four HDMI ports on the TV are HDMI 2.1 ports & they are all HDCP 2.2 compliant...^IFV

I have a Sony optical sound bar. Will it work with this TV?

Asked by: BigBluelax
The LG Nano 9 Series 4K 65 inch Class Smart UHD NanoCell TV w/ AI ThinQ® (64.5'' Diag), Model # 65SM9000pUA can be connected to a Soundbar in one of three ways. The first is via Bluetooth. If the Soundbar supports Bluetooth, it can be paired with the TV to stream audio wirelessly via Bluetooth. Secondly, HDMI IN 2/ARC supports eARC functionality so if a Soundbar has an HDMI port that also supports HDMI eARC functionality, you can connect it to the TV through the HDMI eARC ports. The TV also has an Optical Digital Audio Out that can be connected to any Soundbar that has an Optical Digital Audio In regardless of brand or manufacturer...^IFV

Can I connect a sound bar to this also the stand can I take it off

Asked by: Sequence
There are three ways in which a Soundbar can be connected to the LG Nano 9 Series 4K 55 inch Class Smart UHD NanoCell TV w/ AI ThinQ® (54.6'' Diag), Model # 55SM9000PUA. The TV is a Bluetooth enabled TV so you can pair it with a Bluetooth enabled Soundbar for a wireless Bluetooth connection. The TV has an HDMI port that supports HDMI ARC functionality so you can connect it to a Soundbar that also has an HDMI port that supports ARC functionality. The third way it can be connected is via its Optical Digital Audio Out. The stand base does not come attached to the TV so if you intend to Wall MOunt the TV, you can omit the step for attaching the stand base onto the TV. If you have already attached the stand base, you can always detach it...^IFV
